In 2005, Accents’ founder Lucy Crowhurst was at the top of her game as a young executive in a Fortune 100 technology company. But she was tired, unfulfilled, and in search of something she can combine her well-honed business know-how and analytical skills with her creative design skills and passion for fashion.
Within months, the concept of Accents began to take seed. Our idea was simple – provide to the women of Dallas the best in design, quality, trends, and personal service but without the price tag associated with all of those boutique-quality attributes.
We call it “AFFORDABLE AFFLUENCE”.
To accomplish this meant creating a business model that is very different from that of typical independent boutiques. Specifically, a different way of designing and buying the merchandise was called for. This is where Lucy’s experience in revolutionizing the product development process in Fortune 100 companies came in very handy.
In a nutshell, we eliminate many layers of middle-men that are prevalent in the fashion industry. For example, much of our jewelry is exclusively in-house designed. We hand-pick materials like semi-precious gems and freshwater pearls directly from the source (instead of middle-layer distributors) and work with craftsman to hand produce them. Think about it – less layers of designers and distributors mean less layers of mark-ups.
The result of our business model is unique designs and high-level of quality, without the price tag you would expect.
Here in Dallas, Accents is really catching on! In 2007, Accents was honored by Dallas Observer’s Best of 2007 in 2 categories, named by D-Magazine as one of the Best Picks in Dallas Shopping, featured by Dallas Business Journal, and appeared in Lucky Magazine’s Dallas editorial pages multiple times.
We hope you will enjoy Accents online as much as our Dallas shoppers enjoy the Dallas boutique. We work hard to improve ourselves daily – so we’re all ears if you have any suggestions!
Happy shopping!
